These drawings started as site plan proposals for an artists' colony. The colony provides living/working spaces for 36 artists divided into three groups of 12 (I can't remember what I had decided that the three groups should represent - it was, of course, a purely functional decision to provide a reason for the drawings to be based around the three primary colours).

At the end of February 2002, I woke up one morning and found that I could no longer see properly. I made these drawings while everything was a blur, my head was throbbing and I was feeling helpless and terrified, and doing the drawings enabled me to shut out what was happening. The drawings aren't very interesting, but they are a perfect example of how making art can make life so much more tolerable.
